We wrapped up Q4 with the largest quarterly donation to date – $45,075! This amount pushed us over the $1 million donation mark. We are thrilled to have achieved this milestone in eight (8) years as a chapter.
This quarter we provided funds to charities who are dedicated to easing the financial burdens of families with children battling extreme medical conditions; to providing food and financial help to people in our community; and to rescuing sick, injured, and abandoned animals and providing medical treatment to save their lives. Thanks to our members’ giving hearts, we have donated $1,006,325 as a chapter.
Ahwatukee donated $15,500 to Armer Foundation for Kids.
“We are overwhelmed by the kindness of 100+ Women Who Care and their generosity in gifting $15,400 to the Armer Foundation,” said Jennifer Armer, Founder of the Armer Foundation for Kids. “There are 17 children we are currently assisting across the Valley who require life-saving treatments, and this donation will directly benefit their care.”
The Foundation has a toy drive going on right now through December 16th. They need new, unwrapped toys, socks, blankets, toiletries, sketch pads, crayons, or anything that can keep the kids occupied while in the hospital. Families of the children they help can also come in and choose items for the siblings. Wrapping paper, tape, and party supplies are also desired, so they can decorate the hospital room when a child is having treatment.
Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center was the recipient of $18,125 in donations from our Scottsdale group.
“The Foothills Food Bank is truly grateful for the generous donations and support received from 100+ Woman Who Care Valley of the Sun. These trying economic times have created an increased burden for those living on a fixed income,” shared Leigh Zydonik, Executive Director. “This gift will be used to expand the Senior Market Day Program and enhance our senior meal boxes with healthy food items. Together we can make a positive impact in the quality of life of our neighbors.”
Our East Valley group selected the Arizona Humane Society‘s Emergency Animal Medical Technician team and donated $7,300.
“We are so grateful and moved to get a donation of this size directed at our team. When we get direct funding to our team it goes to purchase gear and equipment that is necessary in the rescue of animals,” shared Ruthie Jesus, Manager of the Emergency Animal Medical Technicians. “Some of the funds will be used to buy a halligan for each truck. This tool is used to open street drains. The Fire Department has them and often we must wait thirty plus minutes for them to get to the scene to open a 200-pound drain grate to save an animal. With this tool, we will be able to do it ourselves, so we can rescue animals as quickly and efficiently as possible. It means so much and our team is so excited.”
The private foundation that provides our match does not provide matching donations to animal rescues. However, they will provide the match to our second-place charity if they meet the eligibility criteria. Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation will receive $3,650 (50% match plus $100 from a member)! This nonprofit improves the lives and enhances the self-esteem of children in foster care across Arizona. They coordinate fun activities to give the children the childhood they deserve.
