Year End Giving Opportunities
2020 has thrown us many curve balls with the global pandemic. However, the one thing that has remained constant is our members’ commitment to local charities. Nonprofits have been hit hard this year as many had to cancel their annual fundraising events.
As we close out this year, we have an opportunity to continue our support through donations that quality for Arizona tax credits. Over 50% of our charities fall into the Qualifying Charitable Organization (QCO) or Qualifying Foster Care Charitable Organization (QFCO).
Giving Tuesday, December 1, is another opportunity to show your support for your favorite charities that you’ve heard about at our giving circles. Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and do good.
When we started our chapter, we had a goal of donating $500,000 in five years. Last year, we crushed that goal thanks to you! Now, we are marching towards $1 Million in donations. Let’s see if we can cross the $700,000 threshold by the end of this year. After our 2020 fourth quarter donations, we’ll be approximately $30,000 shy of our goal.
Ways to Give
Arizona Tax Credits
Have you maximized your tax credit donations this year? Whether you’re a member or community supporter of 100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun, if you live in Arizona you can maximize your tax credit by making contributions to qualifying charitable organizations. Arizona provides two separate tax credits for individuals who make contributions to charitable organizations. Many of our nominated and selected charities meet these requirements (see charity list).
- Donations to Qualifying Charitable Organizations (QCO). The maximum credit allowed is $800 for married filing joint filers and $400 for single, heads of household, and married filing separate filers.
- Donations to Qualifying Foster Care Charitable Organizations (QFCO). The maximum credit allowed is $1,000 for married filing joint filers and $500 for single, heads of household, and married filing separate filers.
If you choose to make your qualifying donations to one of our nominated or selected charities before April 15, 2021, let us know. We’ll count that towards our grand total of giving!
Giving Tuesday, December 1st
Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. People can show their generosity in a variety of ways during Giving Tuesday—whether it’s helping a neighbor, advocating for an issue, sharing a skill, or giving to causes, every act of generosity counts.
Let us know how you chose to support them!
Is your company looking for a local Arizona charity to support with their end of year giving? Pass along our list of nominated and selected charities to help make the selection process easier. If your company donates to one of these charities, pass along the total amount donated to us. We will celebrate with you and count that contribution towards our community giving total!
About Your Donations, Where & How They Are Used
100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun is not the beneficiary of any of the donations made by our members or community supporters. If you choose to support one of the charities on our list you are making your donation directly to that charity. As a giving circle, we simply facilitate the giving process by providing a list of vetted charities nominated by our members.
We suggest doing some research and selecting a charity that touches your heart or aligns with your mission and values as a company. If you visit our Nominated Charities or Selected Charities pages, you will find each charity is linked directly to their website. Please use this information to learn more about a charity and how your donations will directly impact their services and programs.
What is a giving circle?
Giving Circles come in lots of different forms, but the short answer is it is a group of individuals who decide together where to donate their own money through a pooled fund. To learn more about our giving circle, 100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun, visit our About Us page.
Are my donations tax deductible?
All of the charities listed on our website are 501(c) charities. You will receive a tax donation receipt directly from that charity in accordance with their own guidelines.
How should I donate to the selected charity and have it count towards your giving goal?
Once you have selected a charity to support, visit their website directly and look for their DONATE button. You can find a link to each charity’s website by visiting our Selected Charities page or Nominated Charities page. Once you’ve made your donation, simply email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know the amount. We will add it to our total!
What is the difference between a "nominated charity" and a "selected charity"?
Once a charity is nominated and approved through our vetting process, it is added to our Nominated Charity page. These charities have not yet been selected to receive a donation from our members, although in a few instances a charity may have been selected over 18 months ago and then nominated again.
Charities that appear on our Selected Charities page have previously received donations from our members. The amount donated is listed below their name.
